![]() Worst case snag the string and pull it through if snake is to stiff.Once hooked pull through hole or just until in front of.Probe through the top hole with a piece of copper bent so it is raking along the backside of the sheathing trying to snag the string and/or snake.Drill 1/2 -3/4" hole at proper height into center of bay. From the outside, establish the center of that same bay.Fish up the wall until you hit top plate.Tie mason line onto end of 10' length of snake.Again make allowance for drill angle and sole plate thicknees trying to hit the center of cavity. Transfer that location in the basement.Measure that location from the inside corner.Use a stud finder to find the studs in the wall of the bay you want to be in.Insulation and fireblocking inside bays will be the most difficult part. Klein also makes a strong magnet that rolls along interior wall and pulls a metal fish chain to where you need it. Going through attic might be easier if you have access. Didn't cut any drywall for entire insulation. I recently installed 5 cameras went up into soffit with fiberglass fish rod into attic and came down an interior wall that had the vent pipe from ground floor to attic. For example inside j channel under vinyl siding. Depending on siding you might be able to run wire outside and come in from bottom. Drill bit could catch insulation depending on what is in there be careful running it past lumber. ![]() If there is a wall outlet in same bay that you want to run camera you might be able to access from there (it may not be possible depending on what boxes they used during construction). If you have access from underneath they make long flexible drill bits that you can feed directly up from bottom or down through an access point from the floor above it. Then tie onto the drill tip and pull it up. ![]() You could go that route from the drywall hole and drill down into the basement. They also make very long drills with flexible shafts and holes in both ends to connect to wires for pulling. Screw some small scraps of plywood around the edge of the hole to hold the drywall you cut out. Stick a magnet on a telescoping stick up into the hole and catch the chain and pull it to basement. drop the chain down the rest of the way to the floor. Using a very light small chain, poke it through the camera hole and hopefully get it to fall to the cutout. Cut a section of drywall out about halfway up the wall - something like 12" x 12" (once you have a hole to patch, a larger one really isn't more work so you might as well make it a little larger so it's easier to work through). Drill a hole from the basement up into the wall. I think I would use very light chain for this and approach it this way. There are fiberglass rods that can be used but I don't see a way to get from the outside to the bottom plate without at least cutting a small hole in the interior drywall opposite the camera location.
